All Good Things

When Corey and I started this website in early 2011, we had one goal in mind: provide the type of baseball analysis we liked to read to a hungry and growing fanbase. We love the game and the accompanying intricacies and have always been fascinated by the various rules and business aspects. We thoroughly enjoy writing, and really just wanted to have a go at covering the team we love on a daily basis.

But running a website isn’t easy, and I tend to operate by the ‘all or nothing’ mantra, only doing something if I can fully devote the requisite amount of time it deserves. Before Corey even posted the very first article here — about how Domonic Brown should remain in the minors for the 2011 season without any interference — we agreed that we would shut things down when it felt like a chore to wake up and write.

We never really foresaw that coming, but with mounting professional responsibilities on my end and Corey’s increasing role at Comcast Sportsnet — which is still pretty freakin’ cool, if you ask me — it has become tougher to provide the type of content our readers deserve as frequently as we have in the past.

It is with that mindset that we’ve decided to close down shop here at the Glove.

The site will remain up for a while, as it’s entirely possible to have a change of heart down the road, but this is the right decision for me despite how tough it is to actually write this type of post. I’m going to continue writing about the Phillies, but I’ll be moving to Phillies Nation on Monday, taking on a role that better fits my schedule and allows me to write without having to worry about the other aspects of running a site.

Thanks to everyone for supporting the site and helping to make it what it is today. I can easily say that I have never been part of a better writer-reader relationship in my years of writing, and I sincerely hope that we can continue to have our tremendous conversations in the comments section at a new venue.
